Superheroes do exist, and they are not always adults wearing capes!
Noah Woods, aged 5, a quick-thinking, courageous little man recently rescued his whole family from an electrical fire outbreak at their house in Bartow County, Georgia. The brave kid helped a total of seven people safely escape from the burning house and is one of the few children who have been honored with the Lifesaving Award.
Noah’s family was asleep when a fire started in their house from an electrical malfunction. Noah shares a room with his sister Lily, who is 2 years old, and the second he saw the flames and smoke, he immediately grabbed her and got her out through the window, the only open exit at the moment. No one really knows how he succeeded to do that, but he did it with no hesitation at all.
He dove back into the flaming house to rescue the dog and ran to call his uncle next door for help straight away. Other people in the house were asleep at the moment, trapped inside. Noah rescued 7 people and everyone was alive. Lily sustained minor burns to her feet, but other than that, the girl was fine. The little hero and four other family members were treated for smoke inhalation and minor burns.
Noah’s quick thinking saved many lives and prevented what would have been an enormous disaster.
He now wants to be a police officer
As CBS News reports, Noah said he wanted to be a superhero but after his recent rescue mission, he now wants to become a police officer.
“Normally our firefighters are being recognized… but we’re here today to recognize one of our local heroes,” Fire Department Chief Dwayne Jamison said on Friday, during an event to honor the little superhero. “Noah’s brave actions saved the lives of the family that day, so we want to recognize him today.”
He added:
“We’ve seen children alert their families before. But for a 5-year-old to be alert enough to do this … that’s pretty extraordinary.”
Noah was presented with the Lifesaving Award and named an honorary firefighter in a congratulatory event held by the Fire Department. The kid was presented with his very own shiny fireman helmet and a badge to commemorate his staggering bravery.
“This kid right here is so warm-hearted,” his cousin said at the press conference. “I’m honored, I’m privileged just to be part of this family and recognize Noah today. I’ve heard heroes come in all shapes in sizes. He showed me this week, age is a part of it too. Knowing a 5-year-old can go out and save his whole family is an eye-opener to me,” he added.
“By the grace of God, all nine of our loved ones were able to get out of our home,” David Woods, Noah’s grandfather, said in a GoFundMe post. “If it wasn’t for Noah, we may not be here today.”
This GoFundMe account was set up by Noah’s family to request funds from compassionate people because their home has been burned. The hero Noah and his little sister deserve to have a good home, a nice place to live in once again. Let’s all support the family as they need to win this battle and get back on their feet as soon as possible.
