PICTURED: Boy, five, and sister, three, who died four days after house fire

The two children who died days after being pulled from a house fire in Lancashire have been pictured for the first time.

Desiré, three, and Louis, five, were trapped in their Preston home with their mother, Lorena Gabriela, aged in her 20s, and all three were brought out by firefighters before being rushed to hospital.

The children, who were in critical condition and fighting for their lives, died on Tuesday after medical intervention was withdrawn, Lancashire Police said in a statement.

Floral tributes were left at the scene yesterday afternoon, as well as a school polo shirt with the message: ‘To Louis, I will miss you’.

A spokesman for the force added: ‘Our thoughts are with their loved ones at this incredibly difficult time. The children’s family continued to be supported by specially-trained officers.

‘A joint investigation between police and the fire service to determine the cause of the fire is continuing.’

A 24-year-old man arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life was initially released under investigation pending further enquiries.
