Leonardo DiCaprio had to rescue his two huskies from a frozen lake

Leonardo DiCaprio unexpectedly found himself in icy waters — literally — on the set of  Don’t Look Up.

While shooting Adam McKay’s disaster comedy in Massachusetts, the 47-year-old Oscar winner had to rescue his two huskies from a frozen lake after one nearly drowned.

While sitting down with the cast during Entertainment Weekly’s Around the Table, the Titanic star detailed the situation with help from his co-stars but maintained in the end both he and the dogs were okay.

DiCaprio’s story was prompted by McKay during the round table talk, as the cast went around sharing some ridiculous moments from set. ‘You gotta tell the frozen lake story,’ he shared.

‘The funniest thing was, Leo has these two rescue Huskies that are just absolute tornadoes,’ McKay said, with co-star Jennifer Lawrence chiming in that the dogs were ‘psychotic.’

‘Full like the joker, they thrive in absolute chaos’ interjected Jonah Hill who had roomed with Leo and his huskies, Jack and Jill, while they were filming.

‘You gotta tell the frozen lake story,’ McKay and Lawrence prompted.

‘Basically they both fell on a frozen lake,’ Leo began as a taken aback Meryl Streep said ‘oh my god.’ ‘I didn’t understand what you do in a frozen lake,’ he continued.

‘One of the dogs fell in, and he jumped into the frozen lake to save the dog,’ Lawrence summarized.  ‘And then as soon as he pushed the one dog out of the pond, the other one jumped in.’

‘…Well the other one started licking the one that was drowning, and then we all were in the frozen lake together,’ DiCaprio said. He continued to say that ‘living in California’ his Los Angeles based huskies did not understand the concept of a frozen lake whatsoever.

Lawrence continued to paint a steamy picture of what happened next: ‘I’m sure you guys are all wondering, I was too, he immediately got naked in the car.’

DiCaprio rescued two huskies Jack and Jill with his girlfriend of nearly five years, Camila Morrone, 24, in 2020, and they also have an additional huskie named Sally.

The two are extremely private with their relationship however, and she was not by his side at the premiere of the film in early December.

A source told E! News of their relationship: ‘Leo has been settling into this domestic life with Cami, as opposed to all the time he used to spend out with his boys…He does really like his life with her and they’re a lot more coupley than they used to be.’

Don’t Look Up is set for a limited theatrical release on December 10 and will be released on Netflix on December 24.

The film is centered around two low-level astronomers Dr. Randall Mindy (DiCaprio) and Kate (Lawrence) who must go on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching comet that will destroy planet Earth.
