Police arrest teenage girl, 17, and woman, 45, on suspicion of murder after a newborn baby boy is found dead at a home in Doncaster

    A teenage girl and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a newborn baby boy was found dead at a home today.

    Police officers and the ambulance service were called to the property on Norman Crescent in Rossington, Doncaster, at 12.15pm but the infant was pronounced dead at the scene.

    A 17-year-old girl and woman, 45, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody, South Yorkshire Police have said.

    Temporary Superintendent Jamie Henderson said: ‘This is an extremely tragic case and I know the local community, and those further afield, will be very upset to hear about what has happened.

    ‘At this time, our investigation into the circumstances surrounding the baby’s death is in the very early stages and we ask the public not to speculate about the case.’

    A cordon now remains in place on the street and the force has asked people to avoid the area.

    Police are appealing to anyone with information which could assist with enquiries i to call 101, quoting incident number 325 of 16 December.
