A wOᴍᴀɴ who always wants to be a mother, but always faced bad luck in love. However, at age 50, she realized Kelly Clarke didn’t need a partner and decided to get Pʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ despite her age: “I was overwhelmed with the joy of motherhood at 51,” she explains.
She threw away the concept of a “traditional” family when she decided to become a mother at the age of 51 to fulfill her dream of bringing a child into the world and experiencing the greatest love of her life.
Kelly Clarke, 51, gave birth to daughter Lyla Rae Clarke, now seven months old, born to costly IVF treatments and eager to fulfill one wOᴍᴀɴ’s dream of motherhood. While Clarke explains that she feels overwhelmed by the challenges of being a single mother, she says that the “constant joy of being a mother” overshadows all those worrisome thoughts and transforms them into pure love.
Kelly’s relationship with the kids has always been great. In fact, she is known for her attachment to small children. This is soᴍᴇᴛʜing that she herself has noticed and that makes her want to be a mother from a very young age. However, love did not go with that idea, and year after year, she found that possibility more and more remote.
At the age of 50, she realized that time was “no longer on her side” and decided to make the decision she had long expected with a partner: to have a child. Without love but with a strong desire to be a mother, Kelly went to Athens for an in vitro procedure. Although her family was not supportive at first – due to the high cost of the treatment and her being a single mother – Kelly was unconcerned and decided to have the procedure in the hope it would work. 12 days after insemination, she found out she was Pʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ at the age of 50.
“I had a lot of resistance from my family when I decided to become a single mother at 50 because they were worried about me and the implications of using a donor, but at that point, I knew I made the right decision”. Kelly said.
Now, having just celebrated her 51st birthday as a new mom, Kelly says it’s “the best birthday ever”. Of course, she owes it all to her great love and pride in her daughter Lyla.
